
The following data has been compiled on Worldwide Car Fatalities. The figures cover the total number of fatalities per year, as well as the death rate per 100,000 cars on the road in a country. According to the World Health Organization, there were an estimated 1.24 million fatalities worldwide in the year 2010, down from 1.26 million in 2000. Adults aged between 15 and 44 years accounted for 59% of fatalities and 3 out of 4 road fatalities were among men. Half of all road traffic fatalities are among pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. Worldwide the average rate of road traffic fatalities was 18 per 100,000 people (down from 20.8 in 2000). Overall, 92% of vehicle related deaths occurred in low and middle income countries.
