We all know that cancer is a particularly lethal illness that affects millions of people all over the world, but the actual statistics around the disease are more shocking than many of us would realise. In the US alone, 1,500 people will die every day from some form of cancer, and a worrying 1 in 4 people will die from cancer.

Despite the horrifying statistics around death rates however, we are getting better at dealing with cancer, particularly in certain areas of the body. The overall death rate from cancer has dropped more or less every year since its peak in 1999, and the death rates for some cancers are now at an all-time low.
